Description
This antique writing desk originates from around 1775 It has five drawers.The decoration is characteristic for the late phase of Thomas Chippendale work.The only restoration has been French Polishing and a replacement leather writing top.It has replacement locks and its original key. This piece has been in the same Prussian Family for a number of Generations and was owned by Johanna Fiederike Charlotte Dorothea Eleonore , Princess of Bismarck. We have documentation to support the Provenance of this piece; Ownership from 1792 until the present.The early owners were French and the next Prussian in whose family it remains until now. We have documentation from Furniture Experts, Art Historians and Museum workers identifying this desk as Chippendale. All the supporting documentation for the provenance is available for viewing with the desk at our shop premises by appointment only as the desk is stored securely elsewhere.
